EGRET

63ft Converted Humber Barge

63ft x 17ft 3ins a good size for both UK and the French canals. This conversion has been carried out from scratch to a very high standard. The owner converted it himself for him and his family and has lived on it for the last ten years but circumstances have now changed and is now reluctantly up for sale. Built in 1905 by Joseph Scarr of Beverley as a Humber Lighter. She has a Perkins Sabre 6 cylinder diesel water cooled engine, electric start, with shaft drive and with a PRM gearbox. Originally tiller steering, she still has the tiller "steps" on the back deck - now hydraulically steered! Wheel, with single lever control, panel with the usual gauges are in the wheelhouse/galley. The galley is great, built in dishwasher, fridge, washing machine, loads of cupboards and work surfaces, table - a good family sized kitchen!. Down stairs to spacious, light and airy living room with solid fuel stove. Towards rear of boat down steps to the family sized bathroom with full size bath with shower over, wash hand basin and Jabsco deluxe macerator toilet. Double bedroom, with double bed and single bunk which doubles as a study. There is a condenser tumble dryer behind a cupboard in here. There is also another cabin with two bunks. The spacious master bedroom which is forward of the lounge has an ensuite with shower, wash hand basin and toilet. Door to dressing room with ample hanging space and shelves. In this bedroom, behind the mirror, is a door which leads to a storage area which also has a deck hatch for emergencies. Everything on this barge has been seriously thought out. Every part is accessible. There are panels so you can get into anything you may need to. The living room floor has been raised and is accessible at both ends and in here are the water tanks, chlorifier, batteries etc all accessible and easy to get to. The boiler, which runs the central heating has a front on it which can be removed for access if needed. There is storage everywhere on this boat! She has a 1600 watt Invertor. Remote start 10 kva silent generator. Safety certificate 09/19.She had a good survey June 2012 with no recommendations (copy available on request). This barge must be viewed to appreciate what a good job the owner has made. This is a very comfortable home which still looks like a barge both inside and out! The owner has put little touches in here and there to give it a unique feel. With a good sized kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms this would make a great home for a family. £179,000 Laying Castleford.
